My parents got a new dog today (a four year old labradoodle). He is currently getting settled into bed in my room as we speak. Harriet is on dog look out. They have sniffed each other, but Harriet is rightfully still dubious.

Today is Endangered Species Day
“Once believed to be extinct, black-footed ferrets are slowly recovering with the help of captive breeding programs. This photo of a mother and her four kits was taken in a “preconditioning pen” at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Conservation Center in Colorado where captive bred ferrets learn to survive in their natural habitat before being released into the wild at reintroduction sites. I am really sad that Twilight is on this list.
(Joshua Pederson: note the placement of The Lord of the Rings)

Harriet Throw-back: Here is Harriet as a month old rat, right after I got her. She was a little inexperienced when I got her, to put it nicely. She was able to eat solid food but that was her only skill. To make a long story short she got pretty sick due to sleeping in her ceramic food bowl at night (immature decision making). Afterwards I decided to feed her pediasure (pictured) which eventually made her a little pudgy. She was adorable. She still is.
Side note: Harriet received a beret from her aunt Carrie. There will be some French Harriet pictures to come!
Here is Harriet at her first picnic, last summer. I am hoping for more Harriet filled picnics this summer! She is enjoying some sunshine and a sun chip at this particular moment.
More importantly I wanted to draw particular attention to the fact that Harriet has spent the majority of this cinco de mayo, if you will, preparing for the reunion between herself (Harriet Louise Beitzel) and Carolyn M. Kolb which will be taking place tomorrow. Harriet is currently practicing a jig….
Harriet prepares for Cinco de Mayo.
As a side note I would like to draw particular attention to the photo in which Harriet is slouching away. I think that reaction sums up her feelings towards the hat.
